Women Reservation

i know i am traversing a difficult path; to write about such a sensitive topic. but i feel, there is something fundamentally wrong or rather inappropriate about women reservation and ladies compartments in trains. i write this with full respect to ladies and as a husband and the father of a daughter. we live in the world of hypocricy. and we tend to take sides as it suits us. we all support en masse( or do we really?) anna hazare and his efforts to end corruption. but the very other moment we participate in it ourselves by bribing a train TTE or a cop at the tfc signal. so conviniently we decide our take on lot of things. similarly this concept of reservation. today's 21st century girl has an individuality and a social status of her own. she is free and sets rules for herself. she is not bound by society rules and traditions. a no of organisations are fighting for noble cause of female liberation and eqaulity for the few ladies who are still not so 'aware ' as the former. during this time talking about reservation is a regressive step. i believe reservation is something for the downtrodden and also for the very basic of needs . certainly not for the highest office of the country. i have travelled a lot in this country, and observed that how difficult is it for a single girl to travel by various modes of tpt incl mumbai locals and dtc busses. also i have found a no of men rather chivalrously giving their seats to women who are standing. a no of ladies have been found to deny the offer for they are the 21st century lot. also chivalry can be shown to people who actually deserve it. a lady is also required to demonstrate lady like behaviour in public. when she fails to do so chivalry gets discouraged. i ve seen women not offer their seats if a frail senior citizen is standing next to them. this discourages a man from offering his seat to an able bodied fit female. my appeal to all the women in this society is that they should take a call. whether they would like to traverse the convinient path or reservation or talk of gender equality. pl do not always find the easy way out for yourself. stick to your indl stand. a failure to do so confuses the entire society. and therefore the overall respect for the fairer sex is found to be diminishing can be commonly observed. and so it is a submission that this 'opportunist' behaviour must be discouraged. comments are welcome.

masoom- india of the 80s

remember the movie -masoom. and the colours of the movie. the dresses, the style the lifestyle.

it was so much the india of the 80s. the india where i was born. the india which i can relate to and identify with somehow. i dont remember it but somewhere it has been etched permanently in my sub-conscious. whenever i see scenes or even pictures from that era, i kind of get nostalgic.

does the same happen with u. pl let me know.

after a long time: incoherent thoughts

i am back after a long time. got really busy. blogging is something i really wanted to do all the time. just that sometimes, one doesn't get time. i think this is my first blog after i got married on the 9 th Dec 2009. well this also happens to be the day i was born some 26 yrs ago. coincidence!
i think i ve taken some time off from life. everything seems to have come to a standstill. or is it moving too fast for me to catch up Either ways, i am not resisting the inertia. either i am letting myself flow with the flow or else i am enjoying the sink in the quicksand.

i am proceeding on lve for a few days. lets see how it turns out to be.

wish!!

These days i have been getting a strange wish. something that i ve not been achieve for a very long time.
its a simple thing and lot of ppl in India achieve very high standards in the same. but i ve not been able to be a novice in it. in fact , such is the proficiency level in the field in our country that had it been an Olympic event, we would be unchallenged champions.
though its not a big feat. it can be performed easily even in buses/trains, classrooms, library, at home, in the office and almost everywhere and any time.
by this time you must be very close to guessing what it is.
my wish is that i want to get bored.
ya i really want to get bored!!
i want to feel for some time ( may be a day) that i dont ve anything to do. and i have to kill time.
i want to play solitaire on my PC.
these past few months have been really very busy. there is so much on that everything moves like clockwork governed by the 'To-Do' List.
even the lves have also been very busy. lets see when can i achieve a foothold in this activity.
till then Cheers. keep working hard.

Calvin and Hobbes

i ve become a complete fan of this comic strip.
it appears in indore times along with HT. its refreashingly different and very original.
the meaning is conveyed within those three pictures and although it's a series , still every day is a good enough new 'joke'.
i think it's a better strip than even garfield and has definitley become my favourite.
try it.

TuneUp Utilities 2009

Tune up utilities 2009 is an amazing piece of software that i have come across and i have been using it succesfully for about 6 months now. its absolutely fantastic and takes care of the complete pc health and keeps monitoring critical issues incl windows registry entries. it also can help 'program' the Windows by letting the user change the windows start up page et al.
absolutely fantastic gui and easy to use features make it easy for even a grandmom to use it.

its easily downloadable from the net. u just have to google for it. the actual software comes with a 30 day trial version but there are numerous cracks available on the net, which one can use with ease.
so happy tuning up.

Luxuries!

THE HOT SEAT AT 12000 Ft.

Life teaches you so many lessons and one amongst them is luxury.

what sometimes we take for granted may be actually a blessing.

i have made a list of my own through my own experiences and you are requested to contribute ur own.

Breath

scale a mountain with entire battle load of around 22 Kgs at 17000 Ft and you realise what i mean. u thank God for allowing you to take every breath.

Running Water and wash-basin.

i was so sick of using pots and pans of water for about 2 and a half months that when i saw a wash-basin and running water , i let it flow unbelievingly for good about 2 mins.

22 degree celcius.

its a luxury to be at a place where u can do with just one layer of clothing on you. u feel u ve become weight less compared to 4 layers u used to put on earlier.

Sight of your complete bare body.

its a luxury , believe me.!! u get to see only piece meal.

and last but not the least..

WC.
believe me friends. its a blessing to have WC and not go out in the open. trust me on this. i know its importance.

Snooze!!

sometimes ppl make small discoveries or inventions and it really becomes a giant leap for mankind.
i think the 'snooze' in ur alarm is one of those. i think presently my life is all dependent on snooze.
i am able to reach wherever i am supposed to ,in time only coz the snooze. i generally put the alarm for 20 min before the desired time and then keep snoozing and zzzzing to glory.

its a great boon. long live snooze.

Solar eclipse

so the much awaited event is finally over.
i had my squash match in the morning and after that when we came out we experienced the eclipse. although it was badly clouded but we could experience it. it got completely dark for abt 3 minutes.
it was breathtaking and awesome. what strikes me most abt these celestial events is that how well and accurately they get predicted. predicted till the last second. Awesome. and come to think of it. even the ancient greeks and indians cd do it. science must have been so well developed .
now i am already thinking abt my next chance of viewing such an event. i hope its soon.

Premchand

we've all heard of munshi premchand. these days i m reading one of his first books titled "sevsadan". and let me tell u folks awesome is an understatement.
i am enjoying reading it very much. the story is set in early 20th century and its really very interesting to read about the contemprory issues at that time and the social situation.
so it's wonderful.
we in india know atleast 2-3 languages.but get so obsessed by only english. there is so much literature avail in other languages and you will derive great pleausre.
so i ask of you to read some hindi and local language books and not waste this extra knowledge of language that all of us have by not reading. we should not use these languages merely for conversation but also read extensively.

Code Of a Warrior

"This is the code by which the entire Indian Army lives by. and dies too.
"I am a Warrior.
Fighting is my Dharma.
I will train my mind, body and spirit to excel in all devices and weapons of war, future and present,
I will Always protect the weak,
I will Be truthful to bluntness,
I will Be humane, cultured and compassionate,
I will Fight and embrace the consequences,
GOD GIVE ME STRENGTH THAT I ASK NOTHING OF YOU."
